WebKitX enables legacy Windows applications to use modern HTML5 user interfaces without rewriting their existing code. It integrates a full Chromium engine into COM-based applications via a native ActiveX control, while running the browser engine out-of-process for stability and isolation. Licensing

WebKitX is licensed per developer workstation and build server for development purposes. Applications deployed on physical desktop environments do not require additional run-time licensing. Any hosted, SaaS, terminal-based or internal enterprise deployment requires an annual run-time subscription. Hardware/OEM distribution is licensed separately under a volume-based model.

Licensing Terminology

ISV (Independent Software Vendor): Organizations developing and distributing commercial software products to external customers.
Physical Desktop: Single-user installations on end-user machines without remote access or shared execution.
Hosted / SaaS / Terminal: Any multi-user, remote-access or shared environment, including SaaS platforms, web-based systems, virtual machines, Remote Desktop, Citrix and application servers.
Internal (Intranet) Systems: Enterprise or government applications (e.g. HMI, SCADA, back-office systems) accessed by multiple users, even when deployed on local infrastructure.
Embedded / OEM: Software distributed as part of hardware products or appliances.
Developer License: Required per developer workstation and build server for design, development and compilation.
Run-Time License: Required for hosted, SaaS, terminal-based and internal deployments, based on subscription or volume licensing.
Cross-Bitness: Using 32-bit WebKitX ActiveX with a 64-bit Chromium engine requires licensing both the 32-bit and 64-bit editions.
